SOUTH BEND, Ind. - The UAB women's track and field team finished competing at the Notre Dame Meyo Invitational on Saturday. The Blazers had seven athletes compete in total at the event and saw a personal-best from three of them.
"We came away with some solid marks," said head coach Kurt Thomas. " It was a good experience to prepare for the conference championship. Sarah was in the middle of a good race and will be ready for conference in two weeks. Jenna Hinds, Hannah Coffin, Bex (Rebecca Evans) and Emily Drouin ran really good 3K's today. Bex was four seconds off a PR, and Emily was within one second off of hers. Jenna continues to drop her times and Hannah is ahead of where she was this time last year. Those should put them in the mix to score points at CUSA's. Keila has stayed consistent in the triple jump and is gearing up for some big jumps. We have two weeks to put it all together, and with the girls competition tomorrow at South Alabama's meet, we'll be closer to making that happen."
Keila Robertson set a new personal-best in the Triple Jump. The freshman registered an 11.62-meter leap on her last effort to place 21st.
Evans had a season-best for the Blazers in the 3,000 Meter Run. The junior posted a time of 9:59.82. Coffin (10:05.22) and Hinds (10:07.06) joined Robertson in setting career-best marks.
UAB returns to Birmingham for the South Alabama Invitational tomorrow held at the Birmingham CrossPlex. The event begins at noon on Sunday.
