Logoleo, Moreno and Hoven Named 2017 Beach Volleyball Captains

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - UAB Beach Volleyball coach Ashley Hardee has appointed Avei Logoleo, Gabbi Moreno and Avery Hoven as team captains for the 2017 season.
All three team captains are juniors who have already etched their names into the UAB Beach Volleyball record book.
Logoleo is UAB's first beach only player in program history and already ranks sixth all-time in overall wins (32). She is also tied for first in single season wins (17) and single season wins with one partner (17 with Becca Howard in 2015).
"Avei is the first beach only player who will start and finish her career at UAB," Hardee said. "She is our most talented all-around player and also serves on the SAAC Leadership Council. Avei showed enormous toughness playing through an injury last year and her dedication is without question."
Moreno enters her junior year ranking eighth all-time in program history with 24 wins. Last season, her 17 victories with teammate Emily Martinez tied a program record for single season wins.
"Gabbi's smile is contagious and her game is top notch too. She finished last year with the most wins on the team and the exciting part is that she continues to improve."
This will be Hoven's second year playing beach at UAB. In her first year with the program she compiled 14 overall wins, and 12 with teammate Michaela Reesor which ranks eighth in the record book.
"Avery is as tough as nails. Her aggressiveness is her strength and she doesn't back away from a challenge. She comes ready to compete and wants to get better every day. That is what we need to get to the next level."
The Blazers begin their spring schedule exactly one month from today when UAB hosts the Blazer Beach Duals, March 3-5. UAB will play Jacksonville State, New Orleans, Tulane, ULM and Austin Peay during the three-day tournament.
