BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- The UAB Football team held its second practice of the spring on Saturday morning at the Southside facility. Today was the final practice before putting on pads for Tuesday's third practice.
COACH CLARK QUOTES:
On the energy at practice:
"One of the things we talk about is first to second game, first to second practice, there should be a lot of improvement. Organizationally I thought we were better. Focus was good and everyone was where they were supposed to be. It is hard without pads on but they did a good job of protecting each other and getting ready for Tuesday."
On putting pads on next practice:
"We will know a lot more about them. It's hard to tell without pads. `Did the guy get blocked? Did the runner make it to the line or not?' You will be able to tell with pads. Like I said, with no pads on, it is a time to get acclimated to what the field looks like and all of those things went really well."
On the first two practices:
"The intensity in the spring compared to the fall is night and day. What we've done from January to now from a nutrition and training standpoint is really showing up. These guys have put a lot of work in to get themselves ready. However, I told them just being here isn't good enough anymore. This is who we are now and let's see what we do with it."
The Blazers continue spring practice on Tuesday when the pads go on. Continue to follow @UAB_FB on Twitter and Instagram for updates.
