BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The UAB men’s tennis team extended its home win streak to nine with a 6-1 win over Belmont Friday afternoon at the Lakeshore Tennis Center. The Blazers have won nine-straight home matches dating back to last year’s 5-0 win over Alabama A&M on March 11, 2016.

Doubles Action
The Blazers took an early 1-0 lead in the match with wins on courts two and three in doubles action. On court two, freshmen Tim Dollman and Stefan Gonzalez gave UAB a 1-0 lead in doubles play with a 6-3 victory. Kenton Parton and Anru Fourie secured the doubles point. And the lead, with a 6-4 win on court three. On court one, the Bruins defeated the Blazers top duo of Eric Komati and Christian Coetzee in a gritty 7-6 (6) win.
Singles Action
Kenton Parton gave UAB a 2-0 lead with a swift 6-1, 6-2 win on court six. On court four, Christian Coetzee earned a 6-4, 6-4 win to put the Blazers up 3-0. Dollman secured the UAB victory on court two with a two-set 6-4, 7-6 (5) win. On courts three and five, the Blazers split the matches with Anru Fourie earning a three-set win on court five, while Belmont picked up its lone singles victory on court three.
Season Updates
In singles action, UAB boasts a 33-12 mark (.733) this season. Four Blazers remain undefeated while Tim Dollman and Eric Komati each have tallied six singles wins for UAB while Anru Fourie and Christian Coetzee have five.
In doubles, UAB is 17-6 overall (.739) with Dollman and Gonzalez leading the way with a 5-1 mark.
