Blazers Sit in First Place Going Into Final Day

MONTGOMERY, Ala. β The No. 19 UAB bowling team cruised to a 3-1 record on the second day of the Hornet Classic to sit in first place going into the final round of competition.

UAB opened the day with a 950-913 loss to Jackson State before rattling off four consecutive victories.

The first win saw the Blazers bowl their highest pinfall of the second day with a 1,028-779 win over Bethune Cookman. The second game was an 889-872 victory over second place Lincoln Memorial.

Game four was a 974-803 win over the last place Grambling State before bowling a 912 in the fifth game bye.

Taylor Russell leads the individual competition after posting four 200+ games to bowl a 216.0 average. Caitlin Cunningham also sits in the top-10 with a seventh place finish and a 190.6 average.

The third and final round is set for tomorrow at Brunswick Zone in Montgomery.
