Keur and Naysmith lead UAB in Round One of Tavistock Collegiate

WINDERMERE, Fla. – Playing in a loaded field of 17 that features seven teams ranked in the GCAA Coaches Top 25, the UAB men's golf team is tied for 11th place after the opening round of the Tavistock Invitational at Isleworth Country Club.
Playing in his first tournament of the season, Murray Naysmith shot a one under 71 to help pace the Blazers. Senior R.J. Keur also shot -1 and both are in a tie for 11th place entering the second round.
"I am really pleased with the team effort," said head coach Mike Wilson. "Murray and R.J. played very solid rounds on a difficult course. This is a great field and I am looking forward to seeing how we play tomorrow."
Both Naysmith and Keur played consistent golf on Sunday. Naysmith's day consisted of three birdies and two bogeys, while Keur carded two birdies and one bogey.
Freshman John Racciatti was third for UAB shooting a three over 75 and is tied for 57th, while Taylor Eyster (+5) and William Walker (+7) rounded out UAB's efforts.
Illinois, who is receiving votes, leads the field at nine under, followed by No. 10 Florida (-6), No. 13 Texas Tech (-2), No. 18 California (-1) and No. 12 LSU. UAB is tied with North Carolina at +6.
John Axelsen of Florida and Dylan Meyer of Illinois are the individual leaders after shooting a five under 67, while Ivan Ramirez of Texas Tech (-4) is in third and three players are in a tie for fourth at -3.
