Dollman, Gonzalez Represent UAB at ITA All-American Championships

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Competing in his second tournament of the fall campaign, sophomore Tim Dollman won three matches and advanced to the qualifying round at the ITA All-American Championship in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Dollman won all three of his matches over the course of the pre-qualifying round after securing a bye in the opening round of the tournament to earn a spot in the qualifying bracket.
The Cape Town, South Africa native opened play in the Round of 128 on Monday against Wichita State's Murkel Dellien, where he battled the Shockers' sophomore before falling 6-3, 6-3.
Dollman closed out the tournament in impressive fashion, downing Western Michigan's 79th-ranked Kennosuki Nouchi 6-2, 6-2, in the consolation round. The win is Dollman's first over a ranked opponent this season.
Senior Stefan Gonzalez was also in action for the Blazers in Tulsa, falling in the first round to Buffalo's Petr Vodak.
UAB returns to action on October 19 as the team heads to Baton Rouge, Louisiana, for the the ITA/USTA Southern Regionals.
