UAB Cross Country Heads to Greater Louisville Classic

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The UAB cross country team heads to Kentucky this Saturday as it is slated to compete at the 15th Annual Greater Louisville Classic hosted by Louisville. The Blazers’ 5k race is set to begin at 9:15 a.m. CT at E.P “‘Tom’’ Sawyer State Park.
The race features 37 teams including top-caliber talent from Auburn, Bowling Green, Butler, Davidson, John Hopkins, Louisville, Marquette, Memphis, Michigan, Ohio, South Alabama, Toledo, Virginia Tech, Xavier and Conference USA foe Middle Tennessee.
The Blazers are coming off a 16th-place finish at the Commodore Classic. In the meet, Rebecca Evans led the Blazers with the second-best time of her career, finishing at 18:07.8. Jenna Hinds and Chloe Peek shaved 14 seconds off their best times to set personal records, finishing at 19:19.1 and 20:06.2, respectively.

E.P “Tom” Sawyer State Park is the site of five NAIA National Championships, two BIG EAST Conference Championships, five NCAA Division I Southeast Regional Championships, the 2010 NCAA DII National Championships, the 2012 NCAA Division I National Championships, and the 2014 NCAA Division II National Championships. The venue will also be the site of the 2016 NCAA Division III and 2017 Division I National Championships.
