UAB Beach Volleyball Sweeps Sunday's Action

UAB (12-8) opened Sunday’s action with a 4-1 victory over Spring Hill (7-11) before topping Jacksonville State, 4-1.
Tressa Buckland and Avei Logoleo opened Sunday’s action with a victory at the No. 4 position over Sara Brodner and Caroline Herrera, 21-18, 21-15, to put UAB on top, 1-0. Gabbi Moreno and Emily Martinez extended the Blazer lead to 2-0 with a 17-21, 21-19, 15-9 decision over Virginia Hicks and Catherine Milwee at the No. 5 position.
Spring Hill cut UAB’s lead to 2-1 after Molly Griffin and Hannah Masoner edged out Amber Treace and Zahria Richard at the No. 3 position, 21-17, 21-12.
UAB’s No. 1 pair, Sara Rishell and Chelsi Carter, locked the win for UAB, topping Julie Vujnovich and Madison Seuzeneau, 21-19, 21-16.
Michaela Reesor and Avery Hoven closed the match with a 21-17, 22-20 victory at the No. 2 position over Anna Tietjens and Dorina Klinger.
Moreno and Martinez nabbed UAB’s first win against Jacksonville State, topping Jordan Moorer and Hope Gaskin, 21-8, 21-2.
Buckland and Logoleo cruised to a 21-2, 21-13 victory at the No. 4 position of Kira Hahn-Ventrell and Anna Katherine O’Leary to push the score to 2-0. Reesor and Hoven secured a Blazer victory at the No. 2 position by defeating Mackenzie Rombach and Ashley Clingan, 21-8, 21-11.
Rishell and Carter stayed perfect at the No. 1 position with a 21-11, 21-15 victory over Hannah Kirk and Charis Ludtke.
Jacksonville State’s lone victory came at the No. 3 position as Allyson Zuhlke and Amanda Eberle topped Treace and Richard, 21-17, 17-21, 15-11.
UAB returns to action next weekend at the Fiesta on the Siesta Duals. The tournament begins Friday as the Blazers are scheduled to compete against North Florida, FIU, Florida Gulf Coast, Grand Canyon and Stetson.
