UAB Beach Volleyball Falls In Regular Series Finale

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The UAB beach volleyball team closed the Florida State Duals by falling to No. 17 Tulane and No. 9 Georgia State in Saturday’s regular season finale.
On the No. 5 court, Gabbi Moreno and Emily Martinez picked up a 21-14 victory in the second set against Tulane’s Sarah Strasner and Anna Chin, buy the Green Wave roared back with a 15-13 victory in the third set.
Avei Logoleo and Tressa Buckland forced three sets on court No. 4, but Christina McAfree and Hannah Holmes pushed Tulane’s lead to 2-0 after winning, 21-21, 21-15, 15-13. Tulane picked up two-set victories on courts No. 2 and No.1.
Tulane capped a 5-0 victory as Briana Correa and Miah Diirell defeated Amber Treace and Rachel Evans on court No. 3, 21-12, 81-21, 15-12.
No. 9 Georgia State jumped to a 3-0 lead with straight-set victories on courts No. 3, No. 4 and No. 5, before the Blazers earned their first victory over the day. UAB’s No. 2 pair Michaela Reesor and Avery Hoven topped Katelyn Rawls and Nina Interviews, 21-18, 21-17.
Georgia State closed the match with a 23-21, 24-22 victory on court No. 1 over Sara Rishell and Chelsi Carter.
UAB kicks off postseason action next weekend at the CCSA Conference Tournament in Emerson, Georgia. The conference office is set to release tournament seeding and bracket on Sunday afternoon.
