Blazers Close Fiesta on Siesta Key with Win over Jacksonville

SIESTA KEY, Fla. – The UAB beach volleyball team closed out the Fiesta on Siesta Key Duals downing Jacksonville, 4-1, on Sunday.
Sunday’s victory was the first for the Blazers at the tournament after falling to top-ranked competition in the opening matches of the three-day competition and improved their overall record to 13-11 on the season.
Sara Rishell and Chelsi Carter returned to their winning ways with their 14th victory at the No. 1 position. No. 5 pair Gabbi Moreno and Emily Martinez notched their 17th win of the year, improving their overall record to 17-7. The Blazers’ lone loss came at the No. 3 position.
UAB sweeps the season series with its second 4-1 victory over Jacksonville this season.
The Blazers close out the regular season next weekend at the Florida State Duals. UAB will have a rematch with North Florida before taking on three conference opponents in No. 3 Florida State, Tulane and No. 8 Georgia State.
