BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – UAB men’s tennis head coach Derek Tarr announced the addition of three signees for 2017 on Friday. The Blazers welcome Tim Dollman, Nikolai Manchev and Tom El Safadi to the team in 2017.
“We are very excited about our three spring signees,” Tarr said. “This is one of our strongest recruiting classes to date and I am hoping we can return to being a top-50 nationally ranked team.”
Dollman, a Cape Town, South Africa native, played at Reddam House. In his career, Dollman boasts 37 singles wins.
“Tim will make an immediate impact on our team,” Tarr said. “He was a highly recruited player and we are very excited about signing him. Tim should play high in our lineup.”
Manchev hails from Pietermaritzburg, South Africa where he played at Maritzburg College.
“Nikolai is a highly ranked South African junior player, and also an excellent student,” Tarr said. “He is a very consistent player and will give the team added depth.”
El Safadi from Pforzheim, Germany, played at Ruechling Gymnasium, Pforzhheim.
“Tom is ranked in the top 300 in the German Mens ranking,” Tarr said. “He has a lot of experience and will definitely help our team.”
The Blazers open their spring campaign on January 28 against Lipscomb at Lakeshore Foundation.
