Men's Golf Set For Old Waverly Collegiate Championship

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- The UAB men's golf team will close out the regular season this week at the Old Waverley Collegiate Championship in West Point, Miss. hosted by Mississippi State. The tournament will run Monday and Tuesday. UAB is one of 15 teams in this year's field.
Along with the Blazers will be Chattanooga, Cincinnati, Florida, Kansas, Louisiana, Louisiana Tech, Memphis, tournament-host Mississippi State, Ole Miss, South Alabama, Southeastern Louisiana, Southern Miss, Troy and UNC-Greensboro.
The tournament format will be 54 holes on the par-72, 7,088-yard Old Waverly Golf Club. The teams will begin play on Monday with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. CT and will play 36 holes the first day with the final 18 set for Tuesday.
UAB will have the same lineup from the last tournament with senior Paul Dunne, juniors Martin Rohwer and Will Cannon and freshmen Lee Hodges and Taylor Eyster.
The Blazers are coming off their first tournament win of the 2014-15 season after earning the team title at The Goodwin last weekend. The team carded a school-record 817 (-23) to finish first among the 24-team field.
Two members of the UAB lineup finished in the top 10 of the 132-person field. Cannon tied for first individually to earn co-medalist honors with a school-record tying 13-under 197 and Hodges finished in a tie for sixth with a career-best 203 (-7).
