BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- UAB men's golf senior Paul Dunne was named to the 2014-15 Conference USA All-Academic Team, the league announced on Thursday. It is the second-straight selection for Dunne.
The Greystones, Ireland native has been a consistent performer for UAB in both the classroom and on the golf course. Dunne leads the Blazers with a 72.23 stroke average this season and has six top-20 finishes. He was also a key member of the lineup that helped lead UAB to back-to-back team titles to close the regular season.
The 2014 C-USA Golfer of the Year has recorded 10 rounds under-par, including a season-best 69 twice. Dunne had his best finish of seventh place at UAB's home tournament the Shoal Creek Invitational and opened the season with five-straight top-20 finishes.
Off the course, Dunne has excelled academically. The finance major owns a 3.82 cumulative GPA. He is a four-time member of the C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll and received the C-USA Academic Medal three times. Last season Dunne became just the second UAB men's golfer to be named a Capital One Academic All-American.
Dunne will be back on the course as UAB prepares for the postseason with the 2015 Conference USA Championship that begins Sunday, April 26 in Texarkana, Ark.
