WALNUT, Calif. -- The UAB track and field team concluded action in the 10,000-meter run at the Mt. Sac Relays Thursday night at Hilmer Lodge Stadium.
"it was a tough night here in California," UAB head coach Kurt Thomas said. "Lucy Crookes has been battling an injury and it got aggravated tonight. Rebecca Evans competed in her first 10k and ran in a fast race, but raced hard. She'll really learn from this experience. Sarah Livett ran a decent race. We have a few weeks to get healthy and get ready for C-USA's."
Livett ran the fastest time of any Blazer on Thursday, clocking a time of 36:45.55. Evans finished her section of the 10,000-meter run in 37:31.07, while Crookes was unable to finish her race.
With the UAB track and field team split this week, the remainder of the team will compete on Friday and Saturday in the War Eagle Invitational at Auburn. Laurie Pray is the only Blazer competing on Friday, and will enter the 5,000-meter run. The rest of the team will compete on Saturday, beginning with the long jump at 11:30 a.m. CT.
