Rifle Set For SEARC Championships Saturday

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The UAB rifle team will close out the 2014-15 season on Saturday at the Southeastern Air Rifle Championships (SEARC) hosted by The Citadel in Charleston, S.C.
UAB will compete along with The Citadel (men and women), Georgia Southern, NC State, North Georgia and Wofford at the Inouye Marksmanship Center. Action will take place on Saturday, with the first relays slated to start at 7:45 a .m. and the finals will commence at 6 p.m.
The Blazers' last competed in Charleston on Feb. 20 at SEARC 7 and the NRA Sectionals. UAB posted an aggregate score of 2266 in air rifle, which was the third-best score in that category among the seven teams.
Freshman Sarah Grace Banks led the Blazers for the third-straight competition with a 584, including a 100 on the second target. Her score was the third-highest individual score of the weekend.
Fellow Freshman Selina Curren finished with a 572, senior Mandy McGee added a 560, sophomore Ella Von Canon shot a 550 and senior Lindsey Hill recorded a 547 and junior Tori Brown had a 502 to round out the scores.
