BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The UAB bowling team was ranked No. 20 in the latest National Tenpin Coaches Association Poll. The Blazers finished their season ranked for the first time in school history.
UAB (60-49) recently concluded its best season as a program in its four-year history. The Blazers reached 60 wins, the most in school history, during 2014-15 and finished with a winning record for the first time.
This season UAB also made its first appearance in postseason. After being ranked for the first time at No. 16 in the NTCA Poll, the Blazers were selected to compete in the USBC Sectionals.
As a team, UAB finished in the top 10 in six of its nine regular season tournaments. The best finish of the season was second at the Hornet Classic. The team posted four-straight top 10 finishes to begin the season.
Individually, the Blazers accumulated seven finishes inside the top 10. Freshmen Jessica Mellott and Amy Quick led the team with three finishes of 11th or better on the season.
