Student-Athlete Of The Week: Amy Dennis

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Senior Amy Dennis of the UAB softball team was named the UAB Student-Athlete of the Week, as announced on Monday. The Student-Athlete of the Week recognizes student-athletes who excel on and off their respective fields of competition.
The senior from Mobile has been a leader for the softball program both competitively and in the classroom. She and the Blazers are coming off their season-opening weekend of play at the Plainsman Invite in Auburn. Dennis finished the weekend with seven RBI and a home run with a .308 average in 13 at-bats.
She joined in on the 20-run performance to start the season on Friday, totaling four RBI on a single and double. The infielder/outfielder then hit a three-run home run in the 5-0 victory over George Washington on Saturday.
In the classroom, Dennis has maintained a 3.65 GPA in her four years in Birmingham earning her degree in kinesiology – exercise science. She has been named to the Conference USA Commissioner’s Honor Roll every year. Dennis and the Blazers return to action this weekend at the Texas A&M Corpus Christi Tournament in Corpus Christi, Texas.
