Bowling Second After Day One At Wildcat Invitational

DELAND, Fla. - The UAB bowling team is in second place after the first day at the Wildcat Invitational in Deland, Fla. The Blazers competed in five baker matches on Friday.
UAB (44-29) finished 1-4 on the first day but posted the second-highest total pinfall with a 4,265 to sit in second place behind Alabama State's 4,356. The lone win of the day came against No. 20 ranked Tulane.
The Blazers opened the day against Alabama State, falling to the Hornets, 930-870. UAB then dropped another close match to tournament-host Bethune-Cookman, 881-854. In that match the Blazers bowled a high of 224 in the third game.
It was another battle in the third match as UAB just fell short against Southern, 876-866. Then in the fourth match, the Blazers were topped by Florida A&M, 832-782.
UAB was looking for its first win heading into the final match of the day against No. 20 Tulane. The Blazers took the win, 893-774 to close out the day strong. UAB won four of the five games, including a 212 pinfall in the third game against the Green Wave.
