UAB Men's Golf Begins Play At John Hayt Friday

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The UAB men's golf team will return to action this weekend as it travels to Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla. to compete in the John Hayt Collegiate Invitational. The tournament will span three days, beginning Friday and ending Sunday.
UAB will be one of 15 teams competing at the par-72, 6976-yard Sawgrass Country Club. Along with the Blazers, the field will include No. 18 Alabama, Coastal Carolina, Duke, East Carolina, Furman, Jacksonville, Louisville, North Florida, North Texas, Oklahoma State, Tennessee, No. 8 Texas, UCF and No. 16 UCLA.
Head coach Alan Murray will send out the lineup of senior Paul Dunne, junior Martin Rohwer, freshman Lee Hodges, junior Ryan Davies and freshman Taylor Eyster. Junior Will Cannon will compete as an individual.
In the most recent outing, the Blazers finished 10th at the Gator Invitational. Rohwer led UAB with a 4-over 214 to finish in a tie for 11th, while Dunne also picked up a top-15 finish with a tie for 15th.
This will be the second of five spring tournaments for UAB. The teams will play one round each day with the top four scores counting for the team total. Friday's first round will begin at 8 a.m. ET/7 a.m. CT with a shotgun start.
