Doubles Team Falls; CCB Invitational Set To Begin

FLUSHING, N.Y. ---- The UAB doubles team of Christian Coetzee and Luiz Pinto dropped their opening round match Thursday at the UTSA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships, falling to a duo from Texas Tech in three sets.
The Blazer tandem lost to the Red Raiders’ Hugo Dojas and Felipe Soares, 6-4, 2-6, 1-0 (8).
Coetzee and Pinto had advanced to the championship by winning the USTA/ITA South Regional doubles title last month in Tuscaloosa, Ala.
Meanwhile, the CCB Collegiate Invitational is set to get underway in Birmingham with six other Blazers in action. The UAB players in the field at the The Country Club of Birmingham are Eric Komati, Mitchell Martell, Oliver Poysti, Stephan Vancurik, Henry Paiste and Trey McCombs.
