Blazers Finalize Mississippi State Preparations On Rainy Thursday

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The UAB football team was forced to finish practice inside Bartow Arena as an afternoon thunderstorm interrupted the final day of preparation before taking on Mississippi State in Starkville on Saturday.
It is the first time that UAB has had to deal with severe weather during a practice over the past month. Head coach Bill Clark knows how important every second on the practice field can be during a game week.
“We have been blessed so far but it is hard to have to adjust to practicing inside,” head coach Bill Clark said. “There is really no good way to practice inside other than focus on a lot of mental work. That is something I have always said, that is where the comparison did someone we are playing against have rain, or did we have rain.”
Clark felt that despite the trouble of moving the team inside, the players remained focused.
“We have been blessed up to this point to not have to deal with this,” he said. “Today we lost a little bit of time, but I think the players adjusted well. We are always going to have some adversity to deal with, but they handled it well and luckily this was not a padded day for us so we didn’t lose that.”
The Blazers travel to Starkville on Saturday to face Mississippi State. Game time is set for 1 p.m. CT from the Bulldogs' Davis Wade Stadium. The matchup will air on Fox Sports Net and also will be streamed on ESPN3.
