Student-Athlete Of The Week: Will Cannon

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Junior Will Cannon of the UAB men’s golf team was named the UAB Student-Athlete of the Week, as announced on Monday. The Student-Athlete of the Week recognizes student-athletes who excel on and off their respective fields of competition.
The Hoover, Ala. native is in his third season at UAB as a member of the Green and Gold. He has a 3.32 GPA majoring in finance and was named to the Conference USA Commissioner’s Honor Roll following his freshman and sophomore campaigns.
He saw action in four tournaments last season and carded a career-best 15th place finish at the JSU Grub Mart Intercollegiate. Through two completed tournaments this fall, Cannon has finished tied for 61st and tied for 51st at the Gopher Invitational and Inverness Intercollegiate. He fired a three-round total of 238 in each of those events.
Cannon and the Blazers are currently in action at the Graeme McDowell Shoal Creek Invitational. The junior fired a 5-under, 67 in round one to tie for the individual lead entering Monday afternoon’s round two.
