BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The UAB football team wrapped up its short week of practice on Wednesday as the Blazers look ahead to their first off weekend of the season.
UAB head football coach Bill Clark spoke about the much needed break for the team and said it's also a chance for coaches to travel and recruit.
"We'll work tomorrow and Friday and we've got guys going all over the country recruiting," head coach Bill Clark said. "We've still got weights going tomorrow and our players will try and get away from it Friday and Saturday. Friday night I get to go watch my son play and I'm looking forward to that."
The break bodes well mentally and physically for the team as it gives them time to heal heading into the Conference USA opener.
"It's a physical break for the players for a few days and that's needed with us being a little banged up," Clark said. "It's a mental break for us just from the stress caused on Saturdays."
UAB will return to the practice field on Monday to begin preparing for its first C-USA matchup when it hosts FIU on Sept. 27 at Legion Field.
