Blazers Back On Practice Field With Open Date Ahead

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ----- The UAB football team returned to the practice field Monday as the Blazers look to their first open date of the season this coming weekend.
Head coach Bill Clark said the open date will allow the Blazers, coming off a 41-14 victory over Alabama A&M last Saturday, to do some things differently in practice this week.
"We've got a number of things done (that we're trying to get accomplished)," Clark said. "Number one, we want to get better fundamentally. We see the things that maybe, we had issues with over the first three weeks that we maybe didn't have time to slow down and correct. Number two, we get to look at a little bit of an upcoming opponent, so we'll look at a little bit of FIU.
"But mostly, it's about us and getting back to fundamentals and if we've got anybody banged up and bruised, that's a chance to get them well and maybe we get a second guy who gets more work."
The Blazers will be in action again on Saturday, Sept. 27 when they open Conference USA play against FIU at Legion Field (2:30 p.m.).
Ticket information for Saturday's game can be found by calling the UAB Athletics Ticket Office at 205-975-8221 or by visiting UABSports.com.
