BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The UAB football team continued its preparation for Saturday's game at home against Alabama A&M on Wednesday with a two-hour workout at the UAB Practice Fields. UAB head coach Bill Clark said it's at this time of the season that the players start settling in to a routine.
"I thought we had a good day," Clark said. "I think our guys are starting to figure out a little bit of what our routine looks like each week. This is our third Wednesday and there's just a way we do things. There's an energy, there's a tempo and there are guys that have now kind of settled into that roll, as we say B-1 guys that are getting a look but they can get better."
The Bulldogs enter Saturday's matchup fresh off a 30-17 win over Tuskegee, bouncing back from a season-opening loss to North Carolina A&T to begin the year. Clark mentioned that UAB's opponent on Saturday is much like the Blazers in many facets.
"We're going to see an Alabama A&M team that's very similar to us," Clark said. "They made a huge change from game one to game two. They've got a new coaching staff and I was impressed with them. For us, it's do we take another step. Do we keep getting better, do we keep eliminating mistakes we've made even the first two weeks and grow? Anytime we get back home and get to put on a show for our folks, we want to do well."
The Blazers and Bulldogs clash at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday from Legion Field. The game will be broadcast on the American Sports Network (MyTV 68 in Birmingham). Ticket information for Saturday's game can be found by calling the UAB Athletics Ticket Office at 205-975-8221 or by visiting UABSports.com.
