BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ----- The UAB football team continued its preparations Thursday for the Aug. 30 season opener against Troy and head coach Bill Clark said he was pleased with how his team responded in the morning practice after a sub-par session on Wednesday.
"I thought they came back today and responded," Clark said. "I thought we had a lot of energy and a lot more intensity, so it was a good overall day.
"This is the response we want. I think we're all that way that we know exactly what we're looking for. We've got to get out of the ups and downs.
Clark said he's been pleased with the leadership some of his older guys have shown.
"We've got guys who have been here that are older and guys that we've brought in that are older," he said. "We say young guys can lead, too. But I think the older guys are appreciative of the things that are happening that we're trying to do up to this point. I think they're expressing that to our young guys."
Clark said the team will start pulling back on practice Friday and start turning their focus to Troy.
