Tempo Increases As Football Approaches Opener

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The UAB football team practiced for nearly three hours on Wednesday at the UAB Football Practice Facility as the squad comes closer and closer to its season opener against Troy on Saturday, Aug. 30.
Following the practice session, head coach Bill Clark addressed the media contingent. Clark discussed the team's approach heading into first contest of the 2014 campaign.
"I think it (practice) is more urgent," Clark commented. "We put our guys in a two-minute drill in the end. It is as game-like as you can make it. We did some conditioning at the end. It is that time."
Like he had on previous days, Clark talked about how the team's urgency and the pace of play. Clark wants to see the team improve its tempo heading into the first game of his inaugural season.
"There are no excuses, we just have to get it done," Clark stated. "That's what we are telling these guys, there are no excuses. We have to be urgent and we are going to play a bunch of folks."
The UAB football team kicks off the 2014 season against Troy on Saturday, Aug. 30 at Legion Field. Game time is set for 11 a.m. CT. Ticket information for the squad's six home contests can be found at UABsports.com or by calling the UAB ticket office at 205-975-8221.
