BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The UAB football team practiced for more than two hours at the UAB Football Practice Facility on Monday morning. Monday morning’s training session was the first of two scheduled for the day.
Head coach Bill Clark has been pleased with the progress the team has been making in its first eight days of fall camp. Clark is looking forward to see the dividends in the squad’s first scrimmage tomorrow.
“I hope you see guys making huge strides,” commented Clark. “We don’t tackle to the ground a lot, so these are the opportunities to tackle. We don’t have many, which really shows on the defense. Maybe it shows some offensive guys that maybe you thought they were down and they weren’t down. The reality sets in tomorrow.”
Monday marked the second two-practice day of fall camp. Though never satisfied, Clark sees the progress the club has made thus far through preseason training.
“We said that yesterday, I don’t know if I am ever totally pleased,” added Clark. “I am pleased with the effort. We just have to understand, it doesn’t matter if is helmets, shoulder pads, whatever; it is urgent. The mental part, the situations, we have to face all of those. We have to coach for those. Everyday we come out here to work. You put your hard hat on and go to work. They are doing that for the most part.”
UAB kicks off 2014 against Troy on Aug. 30 at home. Game time is set for 11 a.m. CT at Legion Field. Ticket information for UAB's six home games can be found at www.UABsports.com or by calling the UAB ticket office at 205-975-8221.
