BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ---- Conference USA announced its preliminary television schedule for the 2014 football season on Thursday and UAB is listed for a pair of broadcasts on the initial slate of games.
The Blazers' season opener on Aug. 30 against Troy will kick off at 11:00 a.m. CT at Legion Field and will be televised by FOX College Sports. UAB's Oct. 18 contest at Conference USA foe Middle Tennessee will also be a FOX College Sports telecast and will kick off at 2:30 p.m. CT.
UAB will be meeting Troy for the 12th time overall and for the sixth consecutive season. This will be the seventh matchup between the schools in Birmingham. Troy edged UAB, 34-31 in overtime, in the 2013 season opener for both teams. Troy leads the series by a 7-4 margin.
The Blazers and Blue Raiders have played four times with each winning twice. Middle Tennessee won a tight 24-21 decision over UAB last Nov. 2 at Legion Field. The 2013 meeting was the first between the schools since the 2000 season.
The 2014 football season marks the fourth year of a multi-platform media rights agreement between Conference USA and FOX Sports to broadcast a minimum of 20 games. FOX Sports 1, FOX's new national sports cable network, is scheduled to televise a minimum of 10 regular-season Conference USA football games.
Additional games will again be carried nationally on FOX Sports Networks owned-and-affiliated regional networks, which reach more than 85 million homes, and FOX College Sports.
This season marks the 10th year of C-USA's partnership with CBS Sports Network that includes significant national and regional exposure for football, men's and women's basketball and other C-USA sports. CBS Sports Network is the 24-hour home of CBS Sports and is available to more than 99 million households across the country.
Additional Conference USA football television exposures remain a possibility (including games that are guaranteed to be televised as part of other conference's television packages), and games will be released as soon as they are finalized.
Any games not selected for television will be streamed online via the C-USA Digital Network.
