Blazers Finish Day Two At Music City Classic

SMYRNA, Tenn. – The UAB bowling team is currently in 28th place after the second day of competition at the Columbia 300 Music City Classic.
The Blazers were earned two wins and had three losses on Saturday and have a total pinfall of 5,086 for the two days.
In the first game, UAB defeated Howard, 856-800. Sophomore Marisa DiPonio led the team with a 205 in the game. The Blazers then fell to Alabama A&M, 963-886, in the second game of the day.
Junior Marissa Ferreira scored a team-high 230 in the game against Alabama A&M. She was the top finisher individual for UAB, taking 39th. Ferreira bowled an average of 197 across five games, including three games over 200.
No. 11 Kutztown edged UAB, 826-810, in a close game. Ferreira led the Blazers again with a 205 in that game.
The Blazers rebounded with an 823-812 win over Jackson State in the fourth game. Then, the team fell to Monmouth in the final game of the day, 884-841.
The final day of the tournament will begin at 8:30 a.m. on Sunday. The teams will conclude with three best-of-seven baker matches.
