BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ---- UAB and Southeastern Conference foe Tennessee will play their scheduled 2015 football game in Nashville, Tenn. at LP Field, officials from both schools announced on Thursday.
The game, which was originally scheduled to be played at Tennessee’s Neyland Stadium in Knoxville, Tenn., will now take place at the Tennessee Titans’ home stadium on Sept. 5, 2015.
“We are thrilled to be playing this game at such an exceptional NFL venue as LP Field,” UAB Director or Athletics Brian Mackin said. “This will be a great experience for Blazer fans, who will be able to make the short trip to Nashville to watch our team play. In addition, I know our players will be excited and see it as a great opportunity to play a quality opponent in an elite NFL stadium.”
Tennessee is one of four non-conference opponents on the schedule for the 2015 season. UAB will also play home games vs. Georgia State (Sept. 12) and South Alabama (Sept. 19), and an away game at Troy (Sept. 26).
The 2015 contest will be the fifth meeting between UAB and Tennessee. The Volunteers edged the Blazers, 32-29 in double overtime in 2010, in the last matchup between the schools.
