Student-Athlete Of The Week: Lauren Douglas

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Sophomore Lauren Douglas of the UAB bowling team was named the UAB Student-Athlete of the Week, as announced on Monday. The Student-Athlete of the Week recognizes student-athletes who excel on and off their respective fields of competition.
Douglas has helped the UAB bowling team to its best start in the program’s four-year history. The Blazers are 17-9 so far on the season and recently finished second at the Hornet Classic.
The Wickenburg, Ariz. native appeared in 11 games individually for UAB as a freshman, recording a total pinfall of 1,913 to average 173.9 per game. She bowled a career-high 223 in the Wildcat Invitational last season.
Away from competition, Douglas has maintained a 4.0 GPA in applied mathematics. She earned Honorable Mention All-Academic honors by the National Tenpin Coaches Association this summer.
Douglas and the Blazers return to action this weekend at the Kat Klash in Houston, Texas.
