Long Named C-USA Special Teams Player-of-the-Week

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ----- UAB kicker Ty Long was named the Conference USA Special Teams Player-of-the-Week Monday following his performance in the Blazers' game last Saturday at Vanderbilt.
Long, a junior from Roswell, Ga., connected on all three of his field goal attempts (33, 20 and 37 yards) in the loss to the Commodores.
The 3-for-3 effort extended Long's perfect streak of field goals to 24-for-24 on kicks of 40 yards or less since he has been at UAB.
Long is now 36-of-45 in his career with the Blazers and holds the UAB record for field goal accuracy at 80 percent.
UAB begins Conference USA play this Saturday when the Blazers host Florida Atlantic in a 2 p.m. game at Legion Field.
