UAB Bowling Finishes 14th At Crusader Classic

VALPARAISO, Ind. – UAB’s bowling team finished 14th in the Crusader Classic over the weekend. The Blazers recorded a trio of victories across the three-day tournament.
The Crusader Classic included some of the top team’s in the country. No. 4 Arkansas State defeated No. 1 Nebraska, 4-1, in bracket play to take the tournament win.
On the first day of action, UAB tallied 4,219 pins across the six four-game baker matches. The Blazers earned two wins on the day to rank 12th. They took down No. 6 Sam Houston State with a score of 740-686. UAB also edged out Elmhurst 709-705 to finish 2-4.
Day two featured six traditional team games. UAB posted a total pinfall of 5,076 but was unable to come out with a victory on the day. The Blazers remained in 12th place heading into the final day of action.
The Blazers grabbed a win on the third day as the team’s competed in the best-of-seven baker format. They defeated No. 19 Prairie View A&M with a total pinfall of 1,075 to 1,022. Junior Leah Walker led the team with a 221 in the match.
UAB (3-12) will returns to action this coming weekend for the Hornet Classic in Montgomery, Ala. The tournament will run from Friday, Nov. 15 through Sunday, Nov. 17 and will conclude fall play for the Blazers.
