BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- The UAB football team reported for fall camp Monday with the entire group of returning players and newcomers meeting together for the first time.
The Blazers will hold their first fall practice Tuesday evening as they begin working toward the 2012 season opener, scheduled for Sept. 1 against Troy.
UAB head coach Garrick McGee said he is looking forward to getting his team out on the field and going to work.
"I just expect to develop a way that we're going to go about our business in the first few days," McGee said. "I expect things to be done right, meeting sessions to be run the right way, kids studying and then going on the field and executing what they learned in the meetings.
"Our No. 1 priority is changing the way we think about UAB football."
McGee is entering his first fall camp as the UAB head coach. The former Arkansas offensive coordinator was hired in December and led the Blazers through spring drills.
UAB returns seven starters on offense, including preseason all-conference offensive tackle Chris Hubbard, quarterback Jonathan Perry and leading receiver Jackie Williams.
The Sept. 1 season opener with Troy is scheduled for 11 a.m. CT at Legion Field. The Blazers will then go on the road for contests at South Carolina and Ohio State.
