BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ----- UAB senior Danny Manlow has been named to the 2012 Men's Tennis All-Conference USA team for singles, the league announced Thursday.
Manlow, from Somerset, England, earned the second-team all-conference honor in singles for the second time in his Blazer career. Manlow also was named a second-team selection as a sophomore in 2010.
He held down the No. 1 position in the UAB singles lineup during the 2012 dual match season and finished with a record of 11-11 during the spring. Overall, he was 16-16 in singles, including his tournament results from the fall.
Manlow concluded his UAB career in impressive fashion as he defeated Tulsa's top player, No. 103-ranked Japie De Klerk, 6-1, 6-3, in the Blazers' C-USA Championship semifinal loss to the Golden Hurricane.
Manlow also teamed with fellow senior Daniel Moser at No. 2 doubles to compile a team-best 15-6 record in 2012.
Manlow played three seasons at UAB after transferring from Wofford College prior to the 2009-10 academic year. He was named to the Southern Conference All-Freshman Team as a freshman in 2009.
