UAB Battles Tulane In The Sand

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ---- The UAB sand volleyball team will host the Tulane Green Wave on Friday at 4 p.m. CT. The match, which is just the second home contest in program history, will be held at the UAB Sand Volleyball Courts next to West Campus Field.
UAB (3-3) | Tulane (1-5)
The Blazers are coming off some impressive play at the UNF Invitational last weekend. In bracket play, UAB posted an 8-7 record, with two teams advancing to their respective brackets’ finals.
Alison Woods and Sam Serley competed in the Silver Bracket finals, while Michele Simmons and Becca Howard played in the Bronze Bracket championship
In Gold Bracket play, Kiriana Hirini and Rachel Fairbanks advanced to the quarterfinals before falling in a competitive three-set match to a pair from Jacksonville, 21-16, 16-21, 22-20.
Tulane enters the weekend 1-5, winning its first match in program history on March 14 at Stetson. The contest with Stetson was the last time the Green Wave saw action in the sand.
Last Meeting: UAB 5, Tulane 0
The two teams previously met back on March 10 in Slidell, La. at the Coconut Beach Volleyball Courts. The Blazers swept the Green Wave, 5-0, to claim its first win in program history.
Four of the five sets were captured by the Green and Gold in straight sets.
Sam Serley and Alison Woods teamed up as the No. 1 pair and dominated, winning 2-0, by scores of 21-11, 21-8.
