BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ---- The UAB men's tennis team is seeded fourth at this weekend's Conference USA Championship at Orlando, Fla. and is one of four league teams currently listed in the ITA's latest national rankings.
UAB will go against No. 5 seed Tulane on Friday at 11 a.m. The Blazers downed the Green Wave, 4-1, at the Conference USA Shootout on March 31.
The tournament will start on Thursday, April 19 and run through Sunday, April 22 at the four-day event hosted by UCF.
The Blazers (16-8, 3-2 C-USA) are ranked No. 65 nationally but will enter this weekend's tournament having lost four consecutive matches to ranked opponents. UAB dropped decisions last week to Middle Tennessee, Alabama, South Alabama and Memphis.
Tulane (12-10, 3-5 C-USA) has also played a challenging schedule and comes into the Friday match with its last two losses to No. 26 Tulsa and No. 33 Middle Tennessee.
Tulsa is the top-ranked C-USA team and comes into the tournament as the top seed at No. 26. The Golden Hurricane will play the East Carolina/UCF winner Friday at 8 a.m.
