Rifle Falls At Columbus State

COLUMBUS, Ga. ---- Morgan Fancher fired a personal best score of 555 in the air rifle competition, but the UAB rifle team was edged by Columbus State and North Georgia in the Blazers first match of the 2012-13 season.
Columbus State and North Georgia both competed in the air rifle and smallbore events, while UAB only took aim in air rifle.
Nationally ranked CSU placed first in both events, totaling scores of 2305 (air rifle) and 2229 (smallbore) for a top combined tally of 4534. North Georgia was right behind the Cougars, posting a team total of 4405 (2247 air rifle; 2158 smallbore).
Five shooters posted scores for the Blazers, led by Fancher's target score of 555. Maegen Sisk (541) and Abigail Duke (532) placed second and third for the Blazers, while Lindsey Hill and Mandy Mcgee rounded out the individual marks at 521 and 508, respectively.
UAB will be back on the range on Oct. 6, competing in the Tiger Open hosted by Memphis.
