Blazer Doubles Team Falls At USTA/ITA Regional

AUBURN, Ala. ----- Chris Helliar and Lucas Dirube fell to the No. 2 seeded team in their third round doubles match here Saturday at the USTA/ITA Southern Regional Championships.

Helliar and Dirube lost to the second-seeded Mississippi State tandem of Malte Stropp and Jordan Angus, 8-4.

Helliar and senior Tom Puetz won third round matches in consolation singles before being ousted later in the day. Helliar defeated Stuart Kenyon of Alabama, 7-6 (6), 6-3 before falling to LSU's Roger Anderson, 6-3, 6-2.

Meanwhile, Puetz downed Mansingh Athare of Troy, 3-6, 6-3, 6-2 in his third round match but lost later in the day to Ole Miss' Johan Backstrom, 7-6, (3), 6-1.
