BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- The UAB football team continued its spring practice slate with a two-hour session on Wednesday morning, working out in full pads for the first time this week.
The Blazers held their second practice session of the week after practicing in shorts and shoulder pads on Monday. Head coach Neil Callaway was pleased with the team's progress since the spring's first scrimmage last Saturday.
"It was a pretty good day," Callaway said. "We had good contact and good competition. We got into more third-down situations today, and I thought they were pretty evenly contested."
UAB will hold its second scrimmage of the spring this Saturday and Callaway expects to see physical play at every position.
"We always want to make sure we're playing physical," Callaway said. "We're still looking for guys to compete for different spots. We want to see defensive guys play physical and offensive guys make plays."
The Blazers will practice again on Friday morning as final preparation for Saturday's scrimmage.
