BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ----- The UAB men's tennis team is seeded sixth for this weekend's Conference USA Championship, coming up April 21-24 at Tulsa, Okla.
The Blazers (9-11, 3-2 C-USA) will take on No. 3 seed SMU Friday, April 22 at 2:00 p.m. CT at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center. The Mustangs, ranked No. 59 nationally in the latest ITA rankings, will enter the conference tournament with a 16-8 record overall and 3-2 mark in league play.
Host Tulsa is the top-seeded team in the nine-team field and is ranked No. 35 in the nation. Rice is seeded No. 2 and is nationally-ranked at No. 42.
UAB is hoping to re-capture the momentum the Blazers enjoyed two weeks ago when they reeled off a season-best five consecutive victories. Since then, UAB has dropped three straight matches, including Sunday's regular season finale to Middle Tennessee, 5-2.
The Blazers lost to SMU in the 2010 C-USA Championship quarterfinals by a 4-0 score.
