Hamilton, McMillan Compete At NCAA East Preliminary Friday

GREENSBORO, N.C. --- UAB's Timara McMillan and Samantha Hamilton competed in the first round of the 100-meter hurdles for the Blazer track and field team Friday at the East Preliminary Round of the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Irwin Bell Track at host North Carolina A&T State University.
In the warm temperatures, Hamilton clocked 13.86 to place 37th, while McMillan recorded a time of 13.99 to finish 42nd.
Virginia Tech's Queen Quedith Harrison and Kristi Castlin claimed the top spots with times of 12.70 and 12.87, respectively.
The top 24 finishers advance to Saturday's 100-meter hurdles quarterfinals at 7:20 p.m. ET.
The Blazers return for the final day of the NCAA East Preliminary Saturday. Sophomore Rhiannon Johns will compete in the 5,000-meter at 8:45 p.m. ET.
