MOBILE, Ala. -- The UAB women's golf team completed its first tournament of the spring season, finishing 12th with a score of 991 at the USA Lady Jaguar Invitational at the Azalea City Golf Club. Freshman Ana Martin paced the Blazers with a score of 242 to tie for 34th.
"It was not our best tournament, but the weather conditions made things very difficult," UAB head coach Kim Wilcox said. "Ana competed really well, and her performance showed how much promise she has for the rest of the season."
Memphis took the tournament title with a score of 913, while Florida International finished second with a 919 and Stetson rounded out the top three with a 921. Memphis' Marissa Steen finished in the top spot after a playoff with Stetson's Lauren Cate, as each carded a 222 for six over par.
Martin recorded rounds of 82-81-79 to finish as the Blazers' top performer, while junior Carolyn Cochran was one stroke behind her, finishing tied for 41st with rounds of 79-80-84 for a score of 243.
