UAB Men's Tennis Defeats Pacific, 6-1

STOCKTON, Calif. ----- The UAB men's tennis team won the doubles point and then claimed victories in 5-of-6 singles positions en route to a 6-1 victory Tuesday over Pacific.
The match was the second of a four-match west coast trip for the Blazers who improved their record to 8-5.
UAB won four singles matches in straight sets as Alex Emery (No. 2), David Zimmerman (No. 3), Daniel Moser (No. 4) and Dan Cornei (No. 6) won in two sets. Tyrone Ewels accounted for the Blazers' other singles win as he won a three-set decision at No. 5 over Vegerd Veskimagi, 6-3, 1-6, 7-6.
Emery, playing at No. 2 singles against Pacific, eased past Ivan Castro, 6-4, 6-4, while Zimmerman was a 6-0, 6-3 winner at No. Delsin at No. 3 singles.
Moser won, 6-4, 6-4, over Ristow at No. 4 singles and Cornei was a 7-5, 6-2 winner at the No. 6 singles position over Paaro.
UAB's only loss in the match came at No. 1 singles as Manlow dropped a 6-3, 6-3 decision to Artem Gramma.
In doubles, UAB was a winner at No. 1 and No. 3. Danny Manlow and Moser teamed to down Veskimagi and Karl-Erik Paaro at the No. 1 spot, 8-3, and Ewels and Zimmerman won by an 8-6 margin at No. 3 over the Tigers' duo of Fernando Ristow and Renan Delsin.
UAB continues the road trip Wednesday when the Blazers play at Saint Mary's.
