Men's Tennis Team Begins Four-Match West Coast Trip

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ----- The UAB men's tennis team will begin a four-match trip to the west coast on Sunday when the Blazers play at No. 57 Santa Clara.
UAB (7-4) will play the Broncos (2:00 p.m. PT) before matches this week at Pacific on Tuesday, Saint Mary's on Wednesday and San Francisco Thursday.
The Blazers will be seeing their first action since a 4-3 win at Texas-San Antonio on March 6. UAB was to play Oregon a day later in San Antonio, but that match was rained out.
The Broncos also will enter Sunday's match with a 7-4 mark in dual matches. UAB defeated Santa Clara, 5-2, last season.
UAB will face a difficult challenge duplicating its success it has enjoyed on the west coast in previous seasons. Three of the four teams the Blazers will face this week either are ranked or have been ranked during the 2010 season. UAB has enjoyed a 10-1 record in matches in California over the past four years, including a 3-1 mark last spring.
