Blazer Men's Tennis Claims A Doubles Title, Singles Crown

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. ----- UAB's Tom Puetz and David Zimmerman captured a doubles title while teammate James Gardner claimed a singles crown in his flight here Sunday on the final day of play at the Crimson Tide Fall Classic.

Puetz and Zimmerman were winners in two matches Sunday, defeating Virginia Tech's team of Lucas Oliveira and Luka Somen in semifinal play, 8-2, and then downing the Alabama duo of Vikram Reddy and Michael Thompson by the same score in the final.

UAB's James Gardner, a transfer from West Alabama, won the singles championship in the Palmer draw as he outlasted Alex Doleac of Southern Miss, 6-1, 6-7, 6-4.
