BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ----- The UAB football team went through a short practice Friday afternoon in preparation of Saturday's second preseason scrimmage.
The team went through a 10-period (one hour) practice as they look ahead to the scrimmage coming up Saturday.
"Today we did some rehearsing and tried to let them get fresh for tomorrow," Blazers' head coach Neil Callaway said after the workout. "Tomorrow will be a mighty big day for us. We'll come out with who we're going to get ready to play Rice with and we'll have our pecking order, who's first team, who's second team.
"We'll see who's ready, who's not ready, who's going to go to scout team. So, tomorrow will be a big day for us."
Saturday's scrimmage will be the second of the camp after the Blazers held their first one last weekend.
"We have a good opinion of what we think at this point," Callaway said. "There are four or five guys who are kind of on the bubble. Are they going to play or not going to play? Are they going to start? Are they not going to start? Tomorrow, we'll be able to answer some of those questions."
The day will begin for the Blazers earlier on Saturday when they welcome fans to Bartow Arena for "Breakfast with the Blazers" at 9:00 a.m. An autograph session will follow at 10 a.m.
Following the autograph signings, several members of the Blazer team will challenge the UAB volleyball team in a volleyball exhibition on the Bartow Arena floor. The exhibition is scheduled to start at approximately 11 a.m.
Breakfast is free for all UAB football season ticket holders and UAB students; $5 for all other guests.
