Mississippi Prep Receiver Patrick Hearn Signs With UAB

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ----- Patrick Hearn, a wide receiver from Quitman (Miss.) High School, has signed with UAB, Blazers head coach Neil Callaway has announced.
The 6-1, 180-pound Hearn caught 65 passes for 930 yards and 10 touchdowns as a senior last fall at Quitman. In 2008, he helped lead his team to a 10-2 record and a second-round finish in the Mississippi 4A state playoffs.
Hearn had three games during the season with more than 100 receiving yards, his best being a 122-yard performance against Wayne County when he also caught a season-high nine passes with two going for touchdowns.
Chosen by the coaches as the Receiver MVP for Region 5-4A, Hearn also rushed five times for 53 yards with one touchdown (45-yarder vs. South Jones HS).
Hearn also saw action on defense in the secondary in 2008 and recorded four interceptions, one for a touchdown.
UAB opens its 2009 season on Sept. 5th when the Blazers play host to Conference USA foe Rice at Legion Field.
